Bison-Trimmed Coats & Capes

Not only is a coat or cape a garment of warmth and protection against the cold, but it is also a canvas. Montana’s promise of wilderness and wildlife draws people to live in her landscape. We have our favorites, from our declared spirit animals to the seasonal return of the red-winged blackbird, who announces that spring has arrived. My coats and capes are statement pieces that boldly declare affection for the natural world we live in. All the design work is original. Certain motifs are hand-drawn, then digitized and embroidered onto the coat. Other appliqué is hand-cut using a variety of fabrics and techniques to embellish. Every piece is wearable art to be seen and noticed at dinner, the theatre, a fundraiser, or a gallery opening. They can also be displayed as a wall hanging. I use bison trim to further the connection to Big Sky Country, making it uniquely centered upon the animal that defines our Montana landscape.
