Vests are another fashion that allow bison to be showcased. Many wear vests on days when a coat or cape is too much coverage. Some wear vests year-round over skirts, dresses, and jeans. For me, it is another canvas to appliqué the flora and fauna of my western home, or to show off beautiful woven fabric. The fabric I choose usually announces itself and tells me what it wants to be. I also delight in bright unexpected linings that pop when the vest is left unbuttoned. I choose elk and deer antler buttons to accent designs as well, and to use as closures. Each piece speaks of authenticity and calls back to the landscape I love.
