Bison-Trimmed Dusters

Long lightweight coats called dusters appeared in the west in the late 1800s as a way to protect the wearer’s clothing from road dust and grime while travelling on horseback, and (later) by automobile. Loosely fitted to go over dresses and other outfits, these garments grew as fashion statements and are strongly associated with cowboy and ranch life. Seeking a way to bring bison forward into spring and summer wear, I thought of trimming lightweight kimono-style coats on the cuffs and hems. It worked! Even my sister, who lives in Hawaii, can wear her bison-trimmed duster on the warmest of days. Over jeans and a tank top, my dusters dress up your look. Belt it with a Big Timber Bison Belt —you make a statement. These fun, colorful pieces allow bison to be wearable year-round.
